It is with great sadness that the family of Kathleen Marie Brusic of Kenyon, RI announces her unexpected passing on December 25, 2022.
Kathleen was born on February 1, 1952 in Coventry, CT. She was raised in a loving family by her parents Veto and Jane along with her three younger brothers John, Michael and James.
Kathleen forged wonderful, enduring friendships during her high school years at St. Francis Xavier Academy in Providence (Class of ’70), and then at The University of Rhode Island where she earned her BA degree.
Soon after graduation, Kathleen began teaching at Father John V. Doyle School in Coventry, RI. It was here where she found her life’s true passion as an educator. She taught English, Literature, Vocabulary and Grammar with an energy that was inspiring. Kathleen poured her heart and soul into the classroom, and found great joy connecting with her students, watching them learn and grow.
She was devoted to her faith and diligently organized Masses for the students. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Kathleen really loved music. She would always be the first person dancing whenever the music started playing.
Kathleen’s laughter was infectious; her smile and light-hearted sense of humor warmed the hearts of everyone who was blessed to have known her. She had a sensitive and gentle heart, and a generous way of turning a simple greeting into poetry: many a birthday note would become an admired bookmark treasured by others for many years to come.
Kathleen leaves behind her husband of 36 years Lawrence F. Brusic, brother Michael of Charlestown, RI and brother James of Maine/Florida. She was the proud Mom of daughter Sarah Jessica (Jacob) Hooper, and Grandchildren Anna Jessica and Liam Thomas. She was predeceased by her parents Veto and Jane, and by her brother John Stasunas.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston, RI. All are invited to virtually attend Kathleen's memorial service at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG6c1mr8Bt8
Donations may be made in her honor to the Richmond Carolina Fire District, 208 Richmond Townhouse Road, Carolina RI 02812 in appreciation for their efforts to serve the community.
