Kathleen D. Ashley

Kathleen (Dunlap) Ashley, 62, of Narragansett, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA. She was the loving wife of Thomas J. Ashley for 34 years and loving mother of Elizabeth and Christopher Ashley. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Arlene (Nichols) Dunlap. She was the devoted sister of Lorraine Hunter, Dennis Dunlap and Edward Dunlap. Kathy was a 1976 graduate of the University of Rhode Island . She went on to work at the University of Rhode Island for twenty- eight years before retiring in 2011 as the Director of Medical Records at Health Services. Kathy enjoyed traveling, curling up on the sofa with a good book, and of course, to all that knew and loved her, shopping at her favorite stores. Kathy was the glue that kept the extended Dunlap family together. Nothing brought her more joy than opening up her home to host a holiday gathering for her family or a party for her friends. Kathy was an incredibly selfless person who always put the needs and problems of others first, before ever worrying about herself. Kathy's Celebration of Life Reception will be Friday, July 24th from 1-4 p.m. in Spain Restaurant, 1144 Ocean Rd., Narragansett. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
