Katherine Gail Norris

Katherine Gail (Carolan) Norris , 79 of Wakefield, RI and Popponesset Beach, MA passed away peacefully on December 11, 2017. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15th at 9:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi 114 High Street Wakefield, RI 02879. Burial will be on Saturday, December 16 at 11am in Holyhood Cemetery in Brookline, MA. Gail was the high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 57 years of John Norris. Gail, Molly, Flasher or, as her grandkids lovingly called her, Snapdragon was born in Brookline, MA on September 20, 1938. She was named after the gale winds of The Great New England Hurricane. She graduated from Brookline High School in 1956 and later from Fisher Junior College in Boston. Gail lived in Fort Knox, Kentucky and Northfield, VT before settling in Wakefield, RI where John was the baseball coach at The University of Rhode Island. Gail worked in Providence with both of her brothers for many years at Carolan & Co., Inc., & later Oppenhiemer Inc. Gail spent the last 70 summers at Popponesset Beach where she entertained countless family and friends on her beloved porch on Uncle Percys Road. Gail is survived by her beloved husband John Norris, her dedicated daughter and best friend, Carolan Norris of Providence, RI and her loving son John "Jay" of Cumming, GA, his wife Mary and the loves of her life, her 3 grandchildren, Stephen, Carolan & Ali. She was the beloved sister of Richard F. Carolan and his wife Mary Lou Gilbane of Barrington, RI and Francis "Frank" P. Carolan and his wife Susan Carolan of Naples, Fl. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families, as well as many life long friends. Gail was predeceased by her parents Francis P. and Marie A. (Schram) Carolan.
