Katharine Elizabeth Bell

Katharine Elizabeth Bell, 96, 0f Old Mountain Rd., Peace Dale, died Thursday. She was the wife of the late Robert S. Bell. Born in Chevy Chase, MD, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Caroline E. (Wallin) Merritt. Mrs. Bell worked as a secretary for the University of Rhode Island for fifteen years before retiring in 1977. She received her BS from Cornell University in 1933. She was a member of the choir, treasurer and active in the women’s guild of the Kingston Congregational Church. Mrs. Bell was a member of the Kingston PTA, a den mother for the Kingston Cub Scouts, a member of the West Kingston Grange, The Triangle Club, Insight and a volunteer for SHO. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn A. Barsczc of Venice, FL, Susan B. Kenney of Austin, TX; two sons, David E. Bell of Exeter and Thomas W. Bell of Providence; a sister, Jeanette Cominsky of Warrenton, VA; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in New York. A memorial service will be held Saturday April 11th at 11:00 AM in the Kingston Congregational Church, 2610 Kingstown Rd., Kingston. Memorial gifts may be made to the Kingston Congregational Church.
