Karen was an amazing person, with a heart like no other, who never back downed with whatever life threw at her.
She worked hard for her career traveling and living in many states of our country, capping off being the CFO of The Venture Capital Fund of New England in Boston MA, and finally making her way back home to Charlestown RI, as the Finance Director of the Bar Association of Rhode Island.
She is survived by her husband Craig Thompson, her two children, Derek McWade of Boston, Massachusetts, and Michelle McWade of Voluntown, CT, four stepchildren, Kelly, Jenn, Allyson, and Brian and their partners, and all of her grandchildren. She’s also survived by a brother Ronald Dobelstein and his clan, her sister Deb Dobelstein Ballard and her clan, a goddaughter Melanie M. Goodwin and her great niece Baylin. She loved her family to her core and came home to Charlestown for them and her love of the beach.
What are the comments you will hear about Karen when you mention her name -Her smile, her dimples, the blue eyes, the way she made you feel about yourself, her laugh, her love of life. She will be missed terribly but will live on in our hearts and the warmth of the sun.
Burial will be private. The family will host a celebration of life in the coming months and will use social media to inform all she loved.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in her memory to St Andrew Lutheran Church, Charlestown, RI.
