June (McLaughlin) Madden, 92 of Narragansett, left this life on August 19, 2019 as she lived it with strength of spirit, character and good humor enveloped by the love and caring of her family. June and George, the love of her life and her husband of 50 years before he passed away in 2001, lived in Providence and spent summers at their cottage in Narragansett. It was to "Gods country," as George called Narragansett, where they moved to permanently after Georges retirement from teaching. And it was between Providence and Narragansett that they raised their nine children where on many sunny afternoons the brood could be seen trying to ignore the calls of their parents to come out of the water at Sand Hill Cove, as it was time to go home to the cottage on Elizabeth Road. June loved to bake, something she did almost daily as the children were growing up, instilling in them and George a love of baked goods and desserts, especially her blonde brownies. And her grandchildren knew that June would be baking them a custom-decorated cake for their birthdays always in the shape of the childs favorite cartoon character or superhero. June lived a life of faith and giving that also extended beyond her family and friends. A daily Communicant at St. Marys Star of the Sea Catholic Church, June also served as a Eucharistic Minister to bring Holy Communion to housebound parishioners. Born July 30, 1927 to Edna (McLaughlin) Perreault, June was predeceased by her sister Janice Perreault and brother Harold "Bud" McLaughlin; and grandson Tyler Shanley. She is survived by her brother Daniel Perreault of Florida. June is also survived by her nine children: Eileen Madden of North Providence; Bernard Madden of Foster; Mary Madden and her husband Marc Gursky of Narragansett; Patricia Madden Moreau and her husband Phil of Charlotte, NC; Robert Madden and his wife Doreen of Deep River, CT; Kathleen Madden Esposito and her husband Jeff of North Kingstown; Maureen Madden Denney and her husband Roger of Fairfax, VA; Anne Madden and her husband Paul Guay of Peabody, MA; and Joan Madden Mastrandrea and her husband Frank of Shrewsbury, MA. Holidays at Junes home were always a boisterous and joyous event as most, if not all of her children and the 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren came to visit and celebrate. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, Wednesday, 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
