August 18, 1933 — August 2, 2023


June (Jacobik) Friel, 90, of South Kingstown passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at home. She was the wife of the late Augustus C. Friel Jr. Born in Norwich, CT, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sadie (Gawarek) Jacobik.


June was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the Divine Mercy Cenacle. She was a member of the Peace Dale Fire Department Auxiliary, enjoyed gardening, bowling, and making her own wine. Her family was the ultimate joy of her life.


June leaves her son Mark C. Friel and his wife Laurie and daughter-in-law Deborah Friel. She was the mother of the late Stephen M. Friel. She was the grandmother of Michael, Shawn, Christopher, Jeffrey, Matthew, and Joshua Friel; great- grandmother of Nathan, Jonah, Casimir, Lucian, Annora, Aubriella, Zachary, Ava, Isaac, Breahna, Mya, Tyler, and Megan; great- great- grandmother of Lyla Marie.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 10:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield. Visitation will be held Tuesday prior to Mass from 8:30 am to 10:00 am at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Colombia St., Wakefield. Burial will take place at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church.
