Joyce B. Silva, 94, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026. She was the loving wife of 64 years to the late John N. Silva. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Philip and Harriet (Cheats) Bourne.

Joyce worked at South County Cardiology for many years before retiring at the age of 75. She enjoyed crocheting, often making Afghans for loved ones, and cherished relaxing on her deck in the sunshine while visiting with family and friends. Joyce was a proud member of the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut. She was a member of the First Church of God in Peace Dale.

She is survived by her three children, John E. Silva M.D., Joanne Silva-Njoku and Rev. Dr. Judith M. Silva, daughter-in-law Natalie Lujan-Silva, and four grandchildren, Martin J. Silva, Evangelina Matisse Silva, Alejandra Silva and Ugonna Watson Njoku. Joyce was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters, Philip T. Bourne, Jr, Vivian M. (Bourne) Hazard, Rodman D. Bourne, Mahlon Harvey Bourne, Jeanne H. Frazier, Ruel G. Bourne, Glendoris (Bourne) Barrett, Joyce (Bourne) Silva and Jerome Carlisle Bourne.

Joyce's loving and generous spirit inspired people around her.

A church service will be held on Saturday, July 18th, 2026 at 11 AM in The Peace Dale First Church of God, 209 Allen Ave, Peace Dale. Burial will follow in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston.
