Joshua Joseph Rayta

July 19, 1983 — February 13, 2024

Joshua J. Rayta, 40, of, South Kingstown, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 13th. Born in South Kingstown, RI he was the beloved son of Mark and Nicole Rayta.


Joshua a devoted father, son and brother grew up in Narragansett and South Kingstown spending his summers on the beaches with family and friends and attending Wakefield schools. He was a beloved student and a proud member of the South Kingstown High School wrestling team. Joshua was a proud local chef and tradesman who took pride in his work and loved serving his customers. His friends and family describe him as “intelligent, very funny, thoughtful, strong and protective, an amazing cook,good big brother, artistic, faithful, a confidant, generous, loving, optimistic and gives the best hugs”. Joshua spent his free time cuddling with his beloved pet’s Sushi and Luna, visiting family and friends, spending quality time with his daughter, AKA his twin, and creating. He has built and gifted beautiful pieces of art.


Besides his parents, he is survived by his daughter Meckenize; his siblings Nicholas and his wife Daiane, Michael, Jason and Demetrio; his biological mother Marjorie McPhee; his grandparents Vanessa and Denis Cournoyer; his aunts and uncles Demetrio and Shannon Rayta, Myers Rayta, Joanna Silva, Rosanna Cinquegrana, Wayne and Sina Thimas, Debra McPhee, Donald and Colleen Columbo, Eileen McPhee Bumpus, MANY cousins.


He is pre-deceased by his grandparents Demetrio and Mary Rayta, William McPhee and Eileen Zammerielli; his brother Jeremy Rayta; his uncles Paul Rayta, James Rayta, and Joseph Silva; and his great grandmother Mary Alves.


Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 20th from 4-7 pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, 02879. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 21st at 10 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield, 02879. Burial will be held at a later date.
