Joseph Hamilton Wilcox, 71, of North Kingstown, passed away Friday November 2. He was the beloved husband of Laura (Wilson) Wilcox for 41 years. Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late George E., Sr. and Julia May (Sampson) Wilcox. Mr. Wilcox was employed at South County Hospital for many years. After retiring, he worked for Tase-Rite as a delivery driver. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association and the American Legion Post # 39, where he served as Sergeant of Arms. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and watching the Washington Redskins and the Boston Bruins. He was a proud member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe. Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Justin Wilcox and his wife Stephanie of Narragansett, Belinda Wray of Narragansett, Paul Stromley of Narragansett, and Michael Stromley and his wife Bonnie of Wakefield; eight grandchildren, LaKiesha, Dominique, Ty, Meggan, Michelle, Victoria, Nathan, and Andrew; three great-grandchildren, Jameson, Ema, and Aiden; a sister Katherine Pates of Wakefield, and two brothers, Robert Wilcox of Providence and Dennis Wilcox of Wakefield. He was the brother of the late George E. Wilcox, Jr. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield Friday 11-12, followed by a service at 12 Noon. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. The Repass will follow burial at Kings Grant Community Center, 12 Fischer Drive, North Kingstown, RI.
