Joseph R. Walmsley

Joseph R. Walmsley, 74, of Providence, and formerly of South County, passed away Monday. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (Potter) Walmsley for 40 years. Born in North Kingstown, he was a son of the late David Morgan and Louella (Walmsley) Taylor. Mr. Walmsley was a self-employed landscaper and painter. He had a great love for the game of softball and played until he physically could no longer play. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Sandra Pate and Deidra Pate; four sisters, Conchita Noka, Valerie Addison, Valerie Taylor, and Deborah Morgan; and a brother, Robert Morgan. He was the father of the late Raymond Pate, and brother of the late Patrick Carter, Robert Carter, Markita Ramsey and Theresa Pretto. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Monday in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial will be private.
