Joseph Spielmann

Joseph Spielmann, 92, of Greenwood Drive, South Kingstown passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Providence VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Pittman) Spielmann. Born in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Theresa (Kessler) Spielmann. Mr. Spielmann was a W.W. II U S Army Air Force Veteran in England. He worked as an accountant for Santini Brothers Inc. for many years before retiring. He enjoyed volunteering at the SK Animal Shelter, South County Hospital and liked reciting poetry to friends and patients. While residing at the RI Veterans’ Home in Bristol, Joe enjoyed playing cards with his W.W. II buddies and participating in the many activities offered, including Sail to Prevail on Narragansett Bay, Pawtucket Red Sox games, and other outings. The care he received from staff at the Veterans’ Home was of excellent quality, enriching his last years. He leaves his daughter and son-in-law Barbara and John Oberle of Kingston; grandsons, John D. Oberle of Peace Dale, Joshua M. Oberle of Dorchester, MA as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John V. Spielmann of Lakewood, NJ, his sisters, Anna Brooks of St. Petersburg, FL, Theresa Checkovich of Baldwin, NY and Catherine Van Antwerp of Washington, IL.
