Joseph Paul
Salerno
June 24, 1950 – February 5, 2026
Joseph P. Salerno, 75, of South Kingstown, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 5th. He was the beloved son of his deceased parents, Nicola Salerno and Ursula (Zaninni) Salerno.
As a youth, Joe was filled with adventure and joy, and he loved spending his time skiing, scuba diving, spear fishing, and simply enjoying all things New England. After graduating high school, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Rhode Island. Joe worked several years at Electric Boat before joining Stop & Shop, where he retired after 17 years of dedicated service.
Joe was known to all as a beautiful soul, defined by his sweet spirit, quiet generosity, and a heart that always chose to see the best in others. In recent years, he found joy in simple routines-morning coffee with his closest friend, visiting local shops, and sharing lunch and dinner with good people. Joe's legacy is one of simplicity and goodness, an example of a life humbly lived and filled with purpose.
He is survived by his brother, John P. Salerno (Victoria Salerno); his sister, Karen Salerno Rivera (Adalberto Rivera); his nephew, Nicholas Rivera; and his great-nephew and great-niece, Orion and Lyra, who brought him great joy.
A Memorial Service celebrating Joe's life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 1:00pm at The Harbor Church, 263 Waites Corner Rd., West Kingston, RI 02892. A time for conversation, food, and refreshments will follow the service at the same location.
