Joseph W. Godek, Jr.

MGySgt Joseph W. Godek, Jr. USMC (Ret.), 84, of Groton, CT, passed away on Thursday, November 7th. He was the loving husband of the late Gail Ann Godek for 57 years.

Joseph proudly served his country for twenty-three years as a United States Marine. He was a devoted father and grandfather and a generous and kind man. He never missed an opportunity to grab a cup of coffee and strike up a conversation.

Born in Providence RI, Joseph is preceded in death by his wife Gail Ann Godek, parents Joseph W. Sr. and Mary (Polica) and his sister Marion Godek. He is survived by his three children, Joseph P. Godek (Allison), Stephanie Godek (Mark), and Jennifer Godek Beam (David); three grandchildren, Keegan Moll, Charlotte Beam, and Margaux Beam; and his sisters Joan Bouchard and Ann Morey.

Joseph’s visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 11 AM to 12 PM, in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St. Wakefield, followed by a funeral home service at 12 noon. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale.
