Joseph F. Dorsey, 84, of South Kingstown, died unexpectedly on Saturday. He was the husband of Norma (Emery) Dorsey and the were married 48 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Frank and Alesandra (Santa Maria) Dorsey. Mr. Dorsey was a self employed carpenter with his family for most of his life and he also worked for General Dymanics at Quonset for 10 years, prior to retirement. He was a corporal in the US Army serving as a medic during W.W. II and he was a member of the Monroe Sportsman Club in Maine. He took great pride in taking care of his home and yard. Besides his wife he is survived by a brother Harry Dorsey of Cranston, a sister Ethel Jorgensen of Oregon, he was the brother- in -law of Adeline Dorsey, Elenore Dorsey, Beverly Jones, Barbara Lindsay, Alton Emery and Burton Emery, and he leaves many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Arthur Dorsey, Philip Dorsey and Viola Bellman. A Funeral service will be Wednesday 11 AM in the chapel at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence. Burial will follow. Visiting hours are at the AVERY-STORTI Funeral home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Tuesday 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
