Joseph Brady

Joseph Patrick Brady, 69, of Charlestown, RI passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at home. He was the husband of Cathie Romanik Brady.

Joe was born in Middletown, CT to parents John and Shirley. The oldest of six -John, Mary (Nadler), Michael, Elizabeth (Cotjanle), and Christopher. He grew up in Danielson, CT. He attended Killingly High School, was an alumnus of Wesleyan University, and received his Master's and sixth-year degrees from Eastern Connecticut State University.

Joe treasured his family and is survived by his sons John Patrick, Matthew, and Nicholas and predeceased by his son Keith. He adored his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kirsten, Charles, Lane, Jack, and Tess. He felt blessed to have daughters-in-law whom he truly loved-Agnes, Nina, and Jiang-Li.

Joe worked in restaurants and later owned several restaurants in Eastern Connecticut. Later he taught at the Department of Corrections in Brooklyn Connecticut eventually moving into administration in Niantic.

Joe loved music, traveling, and cooking. He traveled all over Asia, attended as many Tedeschi Trucks Band concerts as possible, and was a cooking hotline for his sons. His optimism, humor and smile will be missed.

A wake will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Avery-Storti Funeral Home at 88 Columbia Street, in Wakefield RI. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at St. James Chapel at 2079 Matunuck School House Road in Charlestown, with a reception afterward.
