Joseph G. Boragine

Joseph G. “Pippy” Boragine, 94, of Quagnut Drive, Wakefield, died Thursday, March 5 at South County Hospital. He was the husband of the late Gilda (Montecalvo) Boragine and a companion to Barbara Stephens. Born in Providence he was the son of the late Oreste and Felicia (Yemma) Boragine. He was the brother of Eva Angrisani, Sylvia DeLuca, and the late Freda Sweet all of Peace Dale; and Rosina LeVasseur of Pioneer, CA. Mr. Boragine worked for many years at Hamilton Propeller in North Kingstown and General Dynamics at Quonset Point. He was a World War II veteran who served in Germany under General Patton. He was a member of the South Kingstown Elks for over fifty-five years and received numerous awards including Elk of the Year in 1994 and 1999. He enjoyed playing cards, especially, cribbage and rummy. He was an avid fisherman in and around Salt Pond. He had a love for dogs, especially, Flash, Prince, Casey, and Sparky. A Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of his life will be held Monday at 10am at St. Francis Church, Wakefield. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3 to 5pm at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Kingstown Elks, 60 Belmont Ave, Wakefield.
