Jonathan Dean Parker, 55, of South Kingstown, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025 at the South Kingstown Nursing and Rehab, surrounded by his family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born in Key West, Florida to Naval Commander Richard L. Parker and Doris Marilyn Parker, Jon spent most of his childhood in North Kingstown, RI. After graduating from Pilgrim High School in 1990, he moved back to Key West where he spent many years enjoying the warm Florida winters. During the summer months, Jon traveled along with his parents in a motor home visiting family and friends touring this country he loved so much. Jon was a true patriot, he proudly displayed the American Flag on almost every shirt he wore earning him the nickname, Captain America. A lover of music, Jon enjoyed a wide variety of styles ranging from Andrew Lloyd Webber, to patriotic classics such as The Star Spangled Banner, to his favorite pop song, Dance Monkey. Active in Special Olympics, he earned numerous medals competing in bowling, and also enjoyed acting with GEAR Productions, an all abilities theater group. Jon was a special person who touched many hearts and left a lasting impression on so many people throughout his life.
Jon is predeceased by his father, Richard L Parker and survived by his mother, Doris Marilyn Parker and three brothers, Wayne Parker, Gary Parker (Natalie), and Michael Parker (Judy).
Committal prayers will take place at 11:30 on March 21, 2025 at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery,301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI. Relatives and friends may meet at 11:15 in front of the Administration Building.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
