John C. Stedman

John C. Stedman, 84, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 4, 2017. He was the loving husband of 61 years and high school sweetheart of Jane (McCullough) Stedman. Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of the late William E. and Emily (Nye) Stedman. John was a graduate of South Kingstown High School. For most of his life he was a farmer, working for various dairy and potato farms in the area. He loved to spend his time farming and was proud of his gardens. Between farming he worked as a driver salesman for Coca-Cola Co. He also worked with his son at John Stedman Excavation. John was a member of the Antique Tractor Club. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son John Stedman and his wife Linda, grandchildren Jennifer DeVoe, John Stedman, Jr; great-grandchildren, Victoria (Tori) Megan DeVoe, Addison Rose DeVoe, John Patrick Stedman, and Jake Owen Stedman; sister, Nancy Jane Stedman. John is predeceased by his brothers, Everett E. Stedman and Robert T. Stedman. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. A Celebration of his life will be celebrated at a later date.
