John A. Sewatsky, 67, of Narragansett, Rhode Island, passed away at home on February 24, after a long struggle with multiple sclerosis. He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Sawicki) Sewatsky. Born in Pittston, PA, he was the son of the late Albert and Annamarie (Senausky) Sewatsky. After graduating from St. John the Evangelist High School in Pittston, he attended the University of Detroit. He earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering in 1972 and worked at IBM for 21 years as a systems engineer. In those years, his free time was spent woodworking, cooking, model building, and stamp collecting. Besides his wife of 43 years, he is survived by his daughter, Sarah Sewatsky, and her husband, William (Whit) Hill of Charlestown; his son, David Sewatsky of Narragansett; and his grandchildren, Marcus and Adeline Hill. He also leaves his brother, Thomas Sewatsky, and his wife Mary Catherine of Pittston, PA. Before his passing, John expressed his gratitude for the services and compassion provided to him by his visiting nurses over the years.
