John A. Saugy

April 23, 1934 — August 21, 2017

John A. Saugy, 83 of Narragansett, died August 21, 2017 with his loving family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Constance R. (Darcy) Saugy. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Julia M. and John E. Saugy, whose family founded A. Saugy & Company, a wholesale meat supplier in Providence. John graduated from La Salle Military Academy, attended Holy Cross College and graduated from New England School of Embalming. John was a funeral director for many years before retiring. He also served honorably in the United States Army. Besides his wife, he is survived by his four children, Christine E. (Saugy) Hagopian and husband Jon of South Kingstown, John A. Saugy Jr. MD, and wife Kimberly of Bethpage, NY, Gregory A. Saugy and wife Melissa of Westerly and Abigail M. Saugy, RN of Narragansett; a sister Ruth H. Brewer of Warwick and seven grandchildren. Funeral will be held Friday, August 25, 2017, 8:00 am from Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Rd, Narragansett. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the Amos House, 460 Pine St, Providence, RI 02907.
