John R. Riley

John R. Riley, 92 of Narragansett passed away Monday, July 8, 2024. He was the husband of the late Helen F. (Bowen) Riley and the late Shirley May (Piper) Riley. Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of the late Cyril W. and Gladys May (Champlin) Riley.

John was a firefighter for the Narragansett Fire Department for twenty-five years before retiring in 1986. He was a lifelong resident of South County and served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post 916, Wakefield, American Legion Downey Weaver Post and past president of International Association of Firefighters Local 1589.

He was the father of Lee F. Laudati and her husband David of South Kingstown and Matthew C. Riley of Narragansett; grandfather of Nicholas and Christopher Laudati, Brynn and Chase Riley; brother of the late Jane E. Riley.

At John’s request funeral service and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Narragansett Police Department K-9 Fund, 40 Caswell St., Narragansett, RI 02882.
