John Antonio Moretti, age 85 of South Kingstown, RI passed away in his home on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. He was a kind and loving father, "Pepa," brother, uncle, and a respected, local business man as the owner of Johns Barber Shop (formerly) on Main Street, Wakefield for nearly 50 years. For many, a trip to Johns Barber Shop was a tradition passed on from generation to generation. Known for his big heart and welcoming smile, John was a lifetime member of the South Kingstown Elks Lodge where he volunteered countless hours supporting many of their community and charitable events. He was a veteran of the Korean War, an avid cribbage player always ready to "skunk" any challenger, and once he retired at the age of 72, he would usually be found at the gym working up a sweat on of the machines, moving and shaking in Zumba class, or enjoying a cup of coffee with friends after his daily workout. John is survived by his two daughters, Lynne Harper and her husband James, Melissa Smith and her husband Stephen, and a sister, Rita Moretti, all of South Kingstown. He also leaves four grandchildren, Kevin and Samantha Smith and John and Ellyn Harper, 12 nieces and nephews and a host of friends far too many to list. John was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Greta (Wolff) Moretti (deceased March 16, 2006), his father, Antonio Moretti, his mother, Assunta DeFelice, his sister Lucy (Moretti) Papa, and his brothers Louis and William Moretti. A memorial service open to the public, will take place 10:30 a.m. on July 2, 2014 at Christ Church, Broad Street, Westerly. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of John Moretti to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd, Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886, c/o Alexandra Fiore, State Vice President Health Initiatives, for the specific use of the "Touch, Caring and Cancer" program.
