Obituary

Having full confidence in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, John Paul Mitola entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on October 13, 2026. He was 74 years old.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island on January 4, 1952 to the late Pasco and Loretta (Berry) Mitola, John grew up helping his dad repair houses. The family moved to Warwick in the late 1960's. John graduated from Pilgrim High School in 1970. He attended the University of Rhode Island for two and a half years. After college, he resumed working with his dad, this time building new houses in Charlestown and Warwick. The last house they built was for John's in-laws. After that, John worked as a maintenance man for Darlene Jewelry and later, as an electrician for Superior Electric.

At a young age, John dedicated his life to serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.. As a young adult, John worked with boys in Christian Service Brigade. One spring, he took the boys on a three day canoe trip down the Wood and Pawcatuck Rivers, from Exeter to Westerly. John helped start the Cranston Christian Fellowship and the Warwick Christian Fellowship. Family activities included hiking in the snow, picking blueberries from a canoe, camping, and driving cross country.

John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol (Conn) Mitola. Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Everett Mitola and his wife Elizabeth

of North Kingstown, Yvonne Porter and her husband Clifford of Pensacola, Florida, and
Valerie Mitola of North Kingstown, seven grandchildren, Amberjean, Sherry, Karissa,
Mikayla, Laura, Nathanael and Samuel, two great grandchildren and two great
grandchildren on the way and two sisters, Ruth Knowlton and her husband Daniel of

California.
