John Alden Macphee, Jr.

John Alden MacPhee, Jr., 74, of Narragansett, died Friday. He was the beloved husband of Grace Klein-MacPhee, Ph D, for 52 years. Born in Worcester, MA, he was a son of the late John A., Sr. and Laina (Lahna) MacPhee. He was a graduate of Boston University and Northeastern University. Mr. MacPhee was a science teacher for the South Kingstown School System for over twenty years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Acacia Fraternity, enjoyed scuba diving, drawing, was a movie and nature enthusiast, and will be remembered as a devoted family man. Besides his wife he is survived by four children, Erika Huntley of Wakefield, Arwen MacPhee of Narragansett, James (SuiMay) MacPhee of Coventry, and Peter (Selena) MacPhee of Portsmouth; and eight grandchildren, Jennifer Walsh, William Huntley, Caryl Williams, Kevin Vadehra, Mayla MacPhee, Lily MacPhee, Olivia MacPhee, and Lianna MacPhee. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 in the Peace Dale Congregational Church, 261 Columbia Street, Peace Dale. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
