John J. Hefler

John J. Hefler of Charlestown, loving husband of Ellen (Arnold) Hefler, passed away Monday, December 18th, 2023. They were married nearly 47 years. John was born in Concord, NH to the late John R. and Virginia (Jamison) Hefler, while his father was on assignment with the Army Corps of Engineering.

He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He also graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology and worked for several engineering firms in the area as an Architectural and Structural Engineer. Some of the fondest memories of his youth were spent in his wooden skiff on Narragansett Bay.

Besides his wife, he is survived by sisters in law, Mary (Arnold) Bannister, Linda Arnold, brother in law Richard Arnold (Denise Tucker) and several cousins.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the Staff and Volunteers of Hope Health Hospice, as well as Avis Hazard-Spears and Merrybelle Champlain for their loving care and respect for John and Ellen in his final days.

The funeral will be private in the New Year and at the convenience of the family.
