John C. Desmarais, 44, of Wakefield, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024. Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of the late John JD Desmarais and Cynthia (Standeven) Desmarais.
He is survived by his children, Damian, Jayson, Camryn, Lincoln and Natalie, a sister Katie Desmarais, beloved nephew Gavin Casey, partner Bethany McGuire, pup Valak along with various loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends more like brothers Ed, Mike, Dave and Scotty.
John was well known for his skill and precision in the world of concrete foundations. Starting with his father at FormCo, John worked with various crews until he proudly owned his own business Johnny Concrete. He had most recently started learning mason work with Shea masonry. John was an avid fan of the Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys. He could be found yelling at the tv, throwing his hat and messaging buddies frantically when games played. He was a champion in the Fantasy sport leagues. He was a stellar softball player always aiming for the lights. John formed lifelong friendships on and off the field. He was a talented musician playing drums and singing. He loved music from doo wop to ICP to death metal, his favorite were hairbands. JC was also well known for his love of horror movies; he could recite lines better than the actors! He enjoyed attending horror conventions meeting legends of his childhood like Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and was even able to meet the entire cast of his favorite film Return of the Living Dead. His “horror cave” was a second home to him where he proudly displayed his collection. John loved travelling with Beth at his side be it to camp in New Hampshire, explore NYC, visit family in Maine, or most recently to Memphis to help in a horror convention. JC was quick witted and loved making others laugh. There will never be another like him and he will be forever missed.
