John H. Cook

April 2, 1925 — February 18, 2013

John H. Cook, of Narragansett passed away February 18, 2013. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Hynes) Cook. Born in Cambridge, MA, John was the son of the late Harry E. and Anna (Buckley) Cook. He was a Broadcast Engineer for Outlet Communications (WJAR and WJARTV) for thirty-nine years, retiring in 1990. John served in the US Navy during WWII as a second class radioman. He was a member of the US Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association, and an amateur radio operator for 65 years with the call W1NZH. He is survived by his children, Patrick, William and Kathleen; five grandchildren, Kerry, Courtney, Nathaniel, Caroline and Benjamin and a brother Henry Cook. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland St., Narragansett. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, 399 Fruit Hill Ave, North Providence, RI 02911.
