John S. “Jack” Aregood, 86, of Wakefield, RI, and formerly of East Hartford, CT died April 9th. He was the beloved husband of Elinor (Barney) Aregood for 64 years. Born in Wilkesboro, PA, he was a son of the late Samuel and Leah (Hands) Aregood. Mr. Aregood retired from Franklin Distributors in South Windsor,CT. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1948 -1952, achieving the rank of Sergeant, and was one of the few survivors to escape and survive the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir. He was a member of the Benevolent Order of Elks and the Masons. In his spare time he enjoyed boating and was an avid fisherman, and New York Giants football fan. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter, Greg and Rheina Aregood of South Windsor, CT; a sister, Judith Donahue of East Hartford, CT; many nieces and nephews; his Marine buddy and best friend, Tony Temple and his wife Nancy of South Windsor,CT; and his beloved “Baby Girl” Sasha. He was the father of the late Steven Aregood ; brother of the late William Aregood and Robert Aregood. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 25 at 10 am in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, RI. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
