Joanne Freeman

Joanne Freeman, 66, of Atlanta, GA, and formerly East Greenwich, RI, passed away on February 21, 2020. Joanne was born in Warwick, and was the daughter of the late Archie and Dottie (Yanyar) Blankenship on May 28, 1953. She graduated from East Greenwich High School in 1971. She earned a BS in nutrition from New York University in 1977, graduating at the top of her class. Joanne was a loving mother, steadfast friend and doting grandmother. She fought type 1 diabetes her whole life and finally succumbed o the disease. Besides her husband Thomas Freeman she is survived by three sons, Jacob Freeman and wife Jamie of Long Island, NY, Michael Freeman of Narragansett, and John Freeman and wife Charlotte of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren Molly, Thomas and Matthew Freeman; and two sisters, Rev. Kathleen Macedo and husband Robert and Diane Ambrose and husband Thomas. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 29th at the Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield, officiated by her sister Rev. Kathleen Macedo. Visiting hours are Friday, February 28th, 5 PM to 8. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 260 Cochituate Rd #200, Framingham, MA 01701.
