Joanna (Lombardi) Messerlian, 98, of Narragansett, RI, died on July 29th, in North Port, Fl. after a short illness. She was born in Coventry, RI. Wife of the late Crosby Messerlian to whom she was married for 55 years. Daughter of the late Santo Lombardi and Benedetta Guittari. Sister of the late Michael, Samuel and Nicholas Lombardi and Jessie Waite. She is survived by her sister Rosaria White of Warwick, her daughter Patricia Bayuk and son-in-law Bruce of North Port, Fl, her daughter Donna deWardener of Narragansett, grandson Jeff Britt of Warwick and granddaughter Joanna Ashley deWardener of Narragansett. During her younger years she practiced hairdressing, later taught at Joanne School of Hairdressing and Arthur Angelo’s School. She was an admitting representative at R I Hospital for many years. She loved African violets and was the proud recipient of 1st prize at the Washington County Fair. She was an excellent seamstress and spent many days knitting with her friends at the South Kingstown Senior Center. She also leaves her very dear friend Bea Parker of Narragansett. Visiting hours for family and friends will be Monday 4-7 pm at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland Street, Narragansett, on Tuesday 10am with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Warwick.
