Joan Winkle

It is in deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joan Virginia Winkle who left us peacefully surrounded by her family at the age of 94 on May 18th, 2024. Born on June 28th, 1929, Joan was a native New Yorker who vacationed in Narragansett, Rhode Island, eventually making it her permanent home. Joan loved to be by the ocean, bowling, bingo and most of all spending time with her family.

Joan was the beloved wife of the late Donald Winkle, Mother to Lynn Zilly of Narragansett and Donald Winkle of Enfield, CT. She leaves behind her children, daughter-in-law, Maureen, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joan was the sister of Elaine Wheeler of Alton, New Hampshire and daughter of the late Arthur Weston and Charlotte Horncastle. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and kindness that will continue to inspire us all.

A wake will be held for Joan on Thursday, May 23rd from 10-11 am in Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield RI. A funeral service will follow at 11am in Avery Storti Funeral Home. Followed by a burial at New Fernwood Cemetery in South Kingston, RI.
