Joan M. Booth, 74, of East Greenwich, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at South County Hospital. She was the devoted wife of Gary W. Booth.
Born in Providence, and raised in East Greenwich, Joan was the daughter of the late Gerald and Katherine (McDermott) Lynch. She was a beloved presence in the Galilee community, where she worked for many years in the commercial fishing industry, stringing bait on the docks at the Bait Company.
Joan was an avid Patriots fan and often hosted her friends and family for games. She had a deep love for cooking and good food. She found joy in feeding others and sharing recipes. She and Gary would often go for long drives and find new restaurants to try; always coming back with a good recommendation. But her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by her family. She lived for her boys and grandchildren, always ready for a game, especially cards and Yahtzee, and countless evenings were spent laughing and playing together.
To many, she was more than just family, she was “Nana.” Her warmth extended far beyond her immediate circle. Joan was a fierce and loyal friend, always ready to listen, offer a helping hand, or give a comforting hug. Her home and heart were always open.
In addition to her husband Gary, Joan is survived by her sons Sean, Shannon, and Jason, daughters-in-law Jocelyn and Michelle and her cherished grandchildren: Shea, Ian, Jake, Grace, Ryan, and Addison. She was the loving sister of Dennis Lynch and his wife Joyce and Kathy Lynch-Reels and her husband Marty. She was predeceased by her brothers Jerry and Kevin Lynch.
Joan was a treasured aunt to Kayla, (Kyle), Katrina, (Justin), Brett, (Bryce), Patrick, Devon and Jordan, including grand nieces and nephews Kaiya, Jaelyn, Zyla, Onyx, Jett, Nolan and Nora. Her kindness, generosity, and love touched the lives of all who knew her. She loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. Because of this love, she was “nana” to many others beyond her own grandchildren.
Visitation for Joan will be held Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 from 1-3 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, followed by a funeral home service at 3 PM. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Point Judith Fisherman's Scholarship Fund, Inc. PO Box 386 Narragansett, RI 02882.
