Jessie Cordin

Jessie Struthers Cordin, 96, of Snug Harbor, RI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 1st 2012. She was the wife of Murray G. Cordin for sixty five years and mother of Janet Jeffrey and her husband Steve of Elburn, IL and Edwin “Ted” Cordin and his wife Anne of Portsmouth, RI; grandmother of Matthew (Tracy), Andrew (Kate) and Benjamin (Victoria) Jeffrey, Alex Cordin, Lilli Winthrop and Seth Quest, Jessica Winthrop-Oney and great grandmother of five. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Jessie was born in Leicester, England, on June 17, 1915, the daughter of the late Dr. Edwin M.H. and Janet (Struthers) Wildt. She attended finishing school in Switzerland. Following W.W.II she married her husband at St. Stephens Presbyterian Church in Leicester, England, and came to the United States as one of many “British War Brides”. She was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She served as a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, a volunteer at South County Hospital for many years, and was involved in serving at the churches of which she was a member, including Peace Dale Congregational Church. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4th, at 11:00 AM in Peace Dale Congregational Church, 261 Columbia St., Peace Dale. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted and burial is private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Peace Dale Congregational Church, South County Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
