Jennifer Marie Manning died peacefully at the home of a friend on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Jen had been diagnosed with cancer in the spring of this year and fought valiantly until her death. She was born in Providence, RI on December 20, 1959 to Lester P. and M.Diane (Hinchey) Manning. Jen was the fifth of their eight children and she was a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt. In her early days, Jen was a standout ball player, who played basketball and softball at Prout Memorial High School and later at the University of Rhode Island. She worked as a police officer for the Town of Charlestown, RI. Jen was a friend to many, and spent most of her time being a person for others. She was predeceased by her father, Lester P. Manning, her brother Michael E. Manning, and her close childhood friend, Arlene Early Rosbottom. She is survived by her mother, M. Diane (Hinchey) Manning; her sisters, Leslie A. Manning, Elizabeth Tarasevich, and Mary Manning; her brothers, James P., William R., and Robert M. Manning. She will be loved and remembered, and greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews, among them her basketball buddy, Charlie and his sister Autumn. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses at 1087 Tuckertown Road, Wakefield RI. The public is welcome to attend. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jens name to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care.
