Jeffrey D. Ward, 50, of Wakefield, RI, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 19th. He was the beloved husband of Monica (Scimone) Ward for 21 years. Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Jeff was the son of the late John and Linda (Sloat) Ward. Jeff was a self-employed contractor and craftsman, and he lived for being a fisherman, until illness forced him to retire. A man of many interests, he had a great love for the outdoors and spent much time fishing, gardening, caring for the family’s cherished property, playing the guitar and he especially enjoyed traveling with his family. He will always be remembered as being a caring individual who lived his life helping others and whose sense of humor never failed to make those around him smile. Through the challenges that life dealt Jeff, he never failed to amaze those who knew him with his voracious love of life. Jeff is also survived by a son, Jake Ward, living at home; four sisters, Jennifer Phillips of Sparta, NJ; Leslie Biondi, of Hardyston, NJ; Stephanie Eno of Dover, NH, and Melissa White of Oak Ridge NJ, along with many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Thursday from 4-7 PM, to celebrate their life experiences with Jeff. Spiritual celebration will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the RI Multiple Sclerosis Society, 205 Hallene Road #209, Warwick, RI 02886.
