Pastor Jeffrey D.
Costa
Mar 27, 1958 — Oct 28, 2026
Pastor Jeffrey D. Costa, 68, of Rumford, RI, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Rhode Island Hospital with his family at his bedside. He was the beloved husband of Anna M. (Ferrara) Costa, with whom he shared 19 years of marriage.
Jeffrey was born in Providence, RI on March 27, 1958, at the Providence Lying-In Hospital. He was the son of Dennis Costa Jr. and the late Marguerite (Pyle) Costa.
At an early age, Jeffrey was always willing to use tools and showed a natural aptitude and gift for carpentry and electricity. At the age of seven years old, he began his apprenticeship working after school and weekends with Joseph R. Pyle and Rudolph R. Pyle, both master electricians. Eleven years later, he emerged from this tutelage as a journeyman electrician. Along his journey, he also became skilled at carpentry and quite proficient in plumbing and painting. He continued his journey, working several years as a union electrician in Local 99. He also worked as an independent contractor, wiring gas stations, restaurants, and residential homes throughout the state of RI. Jeffrey then joined T-Mobile USA (then Omnipoint) and helped them launch their network in the Northeast.
Throughout the challenges of his health and life, Jeffrey remained steadfast in his faith, drawing strength from his trust in God. He faced adversity with determination, love, and above all, hope. His love for the Lord and commitment to his calling inspired him to pursue pastoral education. To this end, in January 2025, he completed Leadership Focus through the First Church of God in Anderson, Indiana. What makes this accomplishment even more impressive is that Jeffrey continued his studies while confined to a nursing home. Jeffrey's family, advisor and classmates were very impressed by his perseverance, commitment, and desire to grow in faith and service to God.
In addition to his loving wife, Jeffrey is survived by his father Dennis Costa, his brothers, Dennis R. Costa and Gary J. Costa, his sisters-in-spirit, Maria Madyun and Terri Washington, his stepchildren, Channen Perry, Sr., and Omonike Anderson, and his grandchildren, Janessa Perry, Channen Perry Jr., Tyler Perry, Emily Perry, Mekkiah Anderson and Murrell R Anderson IV. Jeffrey also leaves behind cherished lifelong friends William H. Turner IV, Paul Monteiro, Michael Maio, Rodney Clark, and Phillip Bolduc.
Jeffrey was predeceased by his mother, Marguerite (Pyle) Costa; his grandmother, Dorothy I. Pyle; his grandfather, Rudolph Pyle; his great-grandmother Constance V. Pyle, and his great-grandfather, Joseph R. Pyle.
