DeLuca, Jeannette M. (DiSalvo), 69, of Matunuck School House Road, Wakefield, died Tuesday at home. She was the wife of James H. DeLuca Jr. Born in Wakefield she was the daughter of the late Louis and Amelia (Signorelli) DiSalvo. Jeannette lived her entire life in Wakefield. She worked for a short time at the University of Rhode Island pharmacy department then left to be home with her children. In 1974 she returned to the work force working at the Christian Brothers Provincial Office on Ocean Road in Narragansett. She was the administrative assistant to provincials and served in that capacity for 38 years. On November 13, 1999, Jeannette was presented with the Letters of Affiliation to the Brothers of the Christian Schools. On December 4, 2005, she was named the Ann E O’Donnell Woman of the Year by The Familiares and the DeLaSalle Christian Brothers. She loved to travel but loved the sand and the sun at the beach even more. She took part in a regular exercise program at the Neighborhood Guild and enjoyed hiking, bicycling, reading, cooking, entertaining, game days, and gardening. She had a large indoor assortment of plants of which orchids were her favorite. She was kind and compassionate and loved life. Jeannette was the mother of Marnie L. DeLuca of Wakefield, Mark J. DeLuca of Coventry, and the grandmother of Emma Archambault of Wakefield. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 18 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Star Chapel, Christian Brothers Center, 635 Ocean Road, Narragansett. Burial will follow at the Christian Brothers Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield on Friday, February 17 from 4 – 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Brothers Center or to Miriam Hospital Foundation/Miriam Cancer Center, PO Box H, Providence, RI 02901.
