Jeanne L. Eaton, 85, of Wakefield, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Curtis A. Eaton Sr., missing in action, Vietnam War. Born in South Kingstown, she was the daughter of the late Howard M. and Anna (Morgan) Laity. Jean received her Master’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of California at Riverside. She taught mathematics for twenty seven years in Riverside, CA, North Kingstown, RI and Narragansett, RI High Schools before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Pt. Judith Country Club, an avid bridge player and golf enthusiast. She survived the 1938 Hurricane after being in the ocean with two of her brothers after two hours without touching ground. She was the mother of Andrea Phelps of Newport, Sally Poland of Wakefield, Linda Brown of Pawcatuck, CT, Curtis Eaton Jr. of Narragansett and Howard Eaton of Wakefield. She leaves seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was sister of the late, Morgan Laity, Howard Laity, who was killed in action in WWII and Donald Laity.
