Jeanne Doucette Clarke, 89, passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Richard "Dick" Clarke. Together since high school, they were married 62 years until Richard's passing. She lived many years in West Hartford, CT and later in South Kingstown, RI.
Born in Fall River, MA Jeanne was the daughter of Silvio "Pete" Doucette and Jeannette Ross. As a girl she was raised in Fall River before moving to Hartford, CT and later Wethersfield, CT.
Jeanne and her husband raised their 4 children in West Hartford in a very close-knit neighborhood on Westphal Street. After the children graduated from high school Jeanne worked in travel and education.
Jeanne's strong Catholic faith inspired her to go to Bosnia and Herzegovina on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje where she visited the site where the Virgin Mary was said to appear.
Jeanne was widely traveled and had visited destinations such as French Polynesia, Japan and Ireland.
It was in Ireland that Jeanne fell in love with the Irish Red and White Setters. She raised and bred 2 AKC champions. Jeanne did her part to help recover the Red and Whites as a breed.
She volunteered with Seniors Helping Others, Red Cross Disaster Service and The Jonnycake Center.
In life, she was predeceased by her parents, Silvio Doucette and Jeannette Ross Doucette and sibling Raymond Doucette.
Jeanne is survived by her siblings Yvette Bergman, Donald Doucette (Donna), Gerard "Jerry" Doucette, and Linda Doucette.
She is also survived by her son John "Jack" and wife Michelle Clarke of Roanoke, VA, son Michael and wife Linda Clarke Seattle, WA, son Steven and wife Lauren Clarke of Wethersfield, CT daughter Mary and husband Donald Dragon of Narragansett, RI.
Cherished grandchildren include Kaitlin Clarke, Kellen Clarke, Krissy Clarke, Jamie Clarke, Charlie Clarke, Stephanie Clarke-Osdale (Ian), Jared Clarke (Nicole), Danielle Dragon, Derek Dragon and Deanna Dragon and great grandchild Ava Scarcella.
A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Red Cross.
