Jean Waterman, 86, of Narragansett, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24th, 2024. Born in Barrington, Rhode Island to her parents, the late Frederick and Mary (Lemos) Waterman.
Jean Waterman lived a vibrant 86 years, strong and independently. Jean loved her family, her grandchildren and of course her great grandchildren. Jean found watching sports quite relaxing, especially tennis. She was a skilled woman and cultivated her knowledge earned by a Masters degree from Boston University. She pursued her calling and worked as a counselor for many years. Jean also had a vast love for the ocean, particularly sailing and greatly cherished the memories of these times with her family. Her love of nature and the feel of the wind and sun is where she was most at peace.

She is survived by her children Frederick E. Babcock III, Scott Babcock, Cynthia Babcock and Stephen Babcock and her beloved grandchildren, Stephen Babcock, Alex Babcock, Scott Babcock Jr., Rebecca Babcock, Timothy O’Connor, Natalie Moore, Makenzie Babcock, Jordan Babcock, Kevin Babcock and 15 great grandchildren.
She is pre-deceased by Frederick Vinton Waterman Junior, Frederick Vinton Waterman III and Mary Waterman.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 7th at 10 am in St. Peters by the Sea Episcopal Church, 72 Central St., Narragansett, 02882. Light refreshments and a celebration of life will immediately follow the mass ceremony at The Bike Stop Restaurant, 148 Boon St., Narragansett, 02882.
