Jean T. Ries

After a life well lived, it is with profound sadness that the family of Jean Ries announces that she has passed away peacefully at the age of 93.

Jean was born and raised with her sister Fran in Bridgeport CT. She worked as a metallurgist at Sikorsky Aircraft where she met her late husband George and raised her family in Stratford CT.

A lifelong girl scout, she enjoyed camping and swimming, while working as a troop leader and lifeguard for camporees. She also enjoyed golfing, kayaking, and traveling.

After her youngest child was in school, she went back to college obtaining a BS in chemistry with a minor in biology at Sacred Heart University. She went on to work at various positions at Chesebrough Ponds, Davis and Geck, and completed her working life conducting clinical trials for Pfizer.

Widowed in 1994, she spent many happy retirement years on Lake Coventry, CT with her partner Russ who predeceased her. She had her own bass boat and enjoyed participating in tournaments around New England and teaching fishing to young people.

She is survived by her son Richard in Kansas, daughter Deborah in North Carolina and daughter Barbara in Rhode Island. She was the grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 6 along with many nieces, nephews, a large extended family, and network of friends.

The family would like to extend our thanks to her adopted niece Jenn and the staff at the Brookdale South Bay nursing facility for the wonderful care she received.
