Jean S. Niles-Knight

Jean S. Niles – Knight (Harnden), 82, passed away on Thursday September 20, 2012. She was the wife of the late Philip D. Niles Jr. of Wakefield and the late Edwin L. Knight of Narragansett. Jean was the daughter of the late Andrew and Emily (April) Harnden and grew up in Andover, MA and East Matunuck, RI. Jean Attended the University of Rhode Island and was a proud member of the Delta Zeta sorority. After graduating Jean went on to be a Social Worker for the State of RI and then became the Special Education Teacher at Hazard School in the town of South Kingstown for over 20 years. Upon her retirement she traveled extensively to many locations throughout the world. In addition Jean volunteered for over thirty years for the South County Hospital as well as PPAC and Trinity Theaters. She enjoyed golfing in many leagues and participated in many fund raising golf tournaments. Jean is survived by her three children, Andrew P. Niles and wife Mary Ellen of Maryland, Elizabeth A. Niles of Wakefield and Curtis J. Niles and wife Cynthia of Charlestown. She also leaves her four grandchildren, Lauren, Michaela, Emma, Kealia and a great granddaughter Natalie. In addition, Jean leaves Penny and Bill Knight and family of Nevada and her sister Diann Browning along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday September 29, 2012 at the Church of Ascension, 370 Main Street, Wakefield, RI (Corner of Kenyon Avenue & Main Street).
