Jean Fumiko (little flower) Yoshimura McAuliffe,77, born in Honolulu, Hawaii passed away peacefully in her home in Narragansett, Rhode Island on July 12, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death in 1999 by her husband Cornelius (Connie) J. McAuliffe Esq. and leaves behind her five daughters; Michelle Whelan, Marlene Pasquazzi (Bob), Marita DeSimone, Martina Nessen(Ethan) and Marcia Diehl (Dave). She will be missed by her 12 grandchildren: Lauren, Tyler, Gina, Heather, Alex, Brianna, Ricky, Mattie, Luke, Robbie, Jackson and Madison. She also leaves her beloved family in Oahu: Mae Otani, Dr. Allen Yoshimura, Floy Okutsu, and Wanda Beppu. Jean was adventurous and hard working; leaving her homeland of Hawaii to study Nursing at St. Louis University. Jean started her nursing career at the neo-natal intensive care unit at Lying-In Hospital in Providence. She was a school nurse at Warwick Vets as well as Toll Gate High School in the Warwick School System. After pursuing a duel masters she taught nursing for 31 years while working and raising five daughters. Jean was highly regarded as a nurse educator with an overflow of students requesting her classes. She was a volunteer at the Senior Center, Insight, and was an active member of the YMCA. Jean loved to sing and play the ukulele at family outings. She was outgoing and always the life of the party; often dancing or teaching the hula. Jean has left behind hula steps on all of our hearts. Aloha e, Ke Akua Pu a Hui Hou! (Translation: Good-Bye, God be with you until we meet again) Her funeral and burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
