Jean E. (Adams) Bradley, 89, of Peace Dale, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011. She was the wife of the late Edward E. Bradley and the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Jennie (Finley) Adams. Born on July 5, 1921 in Westerly, RI, she was a 1939 graduate of Stonington High School in Stonington, CT. She worked in the payroll department for the American Velvet Company in Stonington, and also worked as a medical transcriptionist for physicians’ offices in Warwick and Providence. A Navy Veteran of WW II, she served as a hospital corpsman, achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class. An avid genealogist, Mrs. Bradley was a member of Parke Society, the RI Genealogical Society and the Pettasquamscutt Historical Society, for whom she volunteered her services. She was a former member of the Connecticut Genealogical Society and New England Historical Society. She was a life-long gardener, noted soloist singer and pianist, award-winning poet and active with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts groups. She was a member of Curtis Corner Baptist Church in Wakefield. She is survived by a sister, Lucille A. Richmond of Pawcatuck, CT; four sons, David A. Bradley of Stonington, CT, Peter E. Bradley E. Bradley of Narragansett, J. Benjamin Bradley of Wakefield, and Edward C. Bradley of Woodstock, CT; a daughter Linda A. Bradley of Peace Dale; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will take place at 11 AM on Saturday March 5th, at Curtis Corner Baptist Church, 591 Curtis Corner Road, Wakefield. Interment will follow in Evergreen (Stonington) Cemetery, Stonington, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pettasquamscutt Historical Society, 2636 Kingstown Road, Kingston, RI 02881.
