Jason Charles Davis, age 42 of Auburn Hills, MI died quietly on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 after succumbing to a long battle with liver disease. Jason was born on December 4, 1977, in Baltimore County, Maryland. He was two weeks late and his birth was easy. I took Lamaze classes and I was very quiet in the labor room. I just concentrated on my breathing and a spot on the wall and he quickly came weighing 8 pounds, 11 ounces. He was the only son of Luther Charles Davis and Sharon Ann Davis and was the love of our lives. Having been raised in a church going family, Jason accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized when he was just seven years old. One Sunday on the ride to church, Jason told me that he loved the Lord and wanted to be baptized. After meeting alone with our Pastor, Jason convinced him that he was serious about his belief in God and deserved to be baptized. As a teenager, Jason was part of a diverse group of church youth who conducted backyard bible studies in St Louis, MO and led several young people to Christ. Jason always loved cars. When he received his drivers license as a teenager, he eagerly worked part-time driving cars to the auction block at the local car auction facility. He also took building "motorized LEGOS" to the next level. He had an incredible LEGOS collection that showcased his engineering skills. He received excellent grades in high school in Florence, South Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the General Motors Institute of Technology School at Kettering University in Flint, Michigan. During college, he alternated spending 50% of his time in the classroom and 50% of his time in co-op jobs at General Motors, Volvo, and Chrysler. This combination of education and work experience helped him to do well as a Design Engineer of engine components at FEV, Isuzu, Detroit Diesel, Cosworth Technology, and Mercedes in Michigan and at Moss Motors and Jackson Racing in California. His last challenge was helping design motors for deep diving remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) at Hibbard Inshore Deep Sea Vehicles. Jason is predeceased by his grandparents: Earl E. Davis and Carol M. Eccleston Davis, Rev. Shedrick Williams Sr. and Rosalie Smalls Williams. Jason is survived by his parents: Luther Charles Davis and Sharon Ann Williams Davis of Hope Valley, RI; uncle Shedrick Williams Jr. and aunt Marella Williams of Kokomo IN, uncle Robert Davis and aunt Zita Davis of Bridgeport, CT; cousins Rakuya Artis of Auburn Hills, MI, Dartagnon Williams of Kokomo, IN, Yanna Davis and Joshua Davis of Bridgeport, CT. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on January 25, 2020 at Kingston Congregational Church, 2610 Kingstown Road, Kingston, RI 02881.
