Janet E. Cornell

Janet E. Cornell, 74, of Shannock passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at South County Hospital. Born in Westerly, she was the daughter of the late Reith and Elinor (Hall) Bentley. Mrs. Cornell worked as a teacher aide at Charlestown Elementary School for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Downey Weaver Post Unit 34 and Shannock Baptist Church. She was a seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, gardening and cooking for her family and others. She was the loving mother of Patti Lamb, Stephanie Ha, Brenda Peloquin, Loralie Austin, the late Linda Cornell and Katherine Peagler; nana of six grandchildren and a great granddaughter and also survived by nine brothers and sisters. The funeral will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial will be in White Brook Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to MS or SPCA.
