Jane V. Champlin

January 21, 1922 — March 24, 2013

Jane Victoria Champlin, 91, of South Kingstown, died Sunday, March 24, 2013. She was the wife of the late Cassius Champlin Jr. Born in Narragansett, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carrie (Hazard) Reels. Mrs. Champlin was the matriarch of the family and her pride and love grew with each new member. Jane was a long time member of the First Church of God Faithful Workers. Her love of children led her to take a position as a Foster Grandparent at CANE Child Development Center and Wakefield Elementary School in the 1980’s. She was the loving mother of Janice Spears of Charlestown, Jane Potter of Wakefield, Judy Stanton of Narragansett, June Burrell of Providence, Roger Champlin, Raphael Champlin and Rodney Champlin all of Wakefield and the late Joyce Reels and Jean Spears; sister of Margaret Fayerweather of Providence and Grace Sampson of Wakefield. She also leaves 31 Grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren and one late great grandchild. She was the sister of the late Joseph, Chester, Harry, Gilbert and David Reels, Helen Weeden, Carrie Fayerweather, Phoebe Hazard, Bertha Sampson and Lillian Prout. Visiting hours will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the CANE Child Development Center, 281 Post Road, Wakefield, RI 02879.
