James Thomas, 59, of Wakefield, died Monday. He was the husband of Paula (Northup) Thomas and they were married 34 years. Born in Wakefield, he was a son of the late Charles L. Sr. and Frances (DiSalvo) Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a former auto mechanic and then a welder at Electric Boat. He enjoyed fresh water fishing, music and playing his guitar. He was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol. Surviving besides his wife are two children, Jamie Thomas and Alison Thomas, both of Wakefield and two brothers, Charles L. Thomas, Jr. of Narragansett and Michael J. Thomas of West Springfield, MA. The funeral will be Thursday at 9 AM from the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 5-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pt.
