James S. Thayer, 66, of Wakefield, died Saturday at home. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Hoeflich) Thayer. Born in Wakefield, he was a son of the late James S., Sr. and Inez (Gardner) Thayer. Mr. Thayer was a commercial fisherman for many years. He was a charter member of the Washington County Tractor Pullers, a 50 year member of the Slocum Grange, and an avid collector and puller of antique tractors. Besides his wife he is survived by four children, Cindy Duckworth and her husband Ed, Marsha Thayer, Luke Thayer and his wife Amy, and Sarah Thayer; four grandchildren, Emily, Cassandra, Zachary and Samuel. A celebration of his life will be celebrated Saturday December 12th at 12 Noon at the Elks Lodge, 60 Belmont Avenue, Wakefield. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
